Tiamat, the Dragon Queen

I am very happy to share with you my most recent illustration of the fearsome Queen of Dragons, Tiamat! I have always been fascinated by the complexity and power of this iconic Dungeons & Dragons deity, and I tried to capture her majesty and multifaceted nature in this piece. Each of her five heads represents a type of chromatic dragon, and the challenge was to balance individual ferocity with the imposing stature of a divine being.
In this illustration, I specifically aimed to portray the sheer scale and overwhelming presence of the beast as she looms over a group of brave adventurers, emphasizing the legendary threat she poses to any party unfortunate enough to cross her path. I dedicated many hours to studying references and applying shading and color techniques to bring this legendary creature to life. I hope you enjoy the result as much as I enjoyed creating it.
